2014 and YOU!
Making a Difference matters! No matter how small or grand... What YOU do Matters!
What have you done to make an impact today? Did you let the people around you know that you love and appreciate them? Today you can make the conscious choice to shine your light a little brighter, smile and choose to be positive.
Tell your kids that you think they are great; let your Boss know that you are grateful for your job. (If you are not, start looking for one that you can be passionate about and excited to get out of bed to get to each morning.)
If this was your last day on earth, who would you want to talk to and what would you want them to always remember when they think about you? Why not share that with them now?
What can you do today that lightens the load of another person? What can you do to lend a hand or help out? It is a wonderful feeling to know that today, I made a difference. I listened to a friend when they needed to be heard. Or that I shared a story or experience that helped someone not feel so alone.
I want to remind you encase you may have forgotten, You are Amazing! You will never know the real impact that your ripple effect can make on another person’s life. Big or little, make an effort... You may even save a life by simply looking into someone in the eyes... Because they feel seen! It may seem too easy but I know it to be true!
Over the years, I have shared my heart, my life, my bloopers, my experiences, and my love with people around the globe... And more often than not, I receive tear stained emails, expressing their gratitude for Being here for them, for the motivation + encouragement that I continue to share. Not all of the stories or thoughts will be "one size fits all." However, the simple act of sharing... Can be exactly what the reader or viewer needed at exactly that moment.
So, don't be scared... Pay it forward and make someone else's day by expressing your gratitude for them and who they are in your life.
Remember that Every action that you take, every decision that you make, Everything that you do matters. You matter! You are only on this earth for a limited number of days; don't let another one pass you by without making the conscious decision to express your gratitude... Every day.
I Love YOU!
Humbly,
Marcia

Peace Pioneer Lynne Hazelden
This morning my dear friend Lynne Hazelden passed away. In her memory I wanted to share the story of when I met her.
In 2009 a very insistent Lynne came across a Facebook page I was building called the Eaupening. She loved what I was up to because it was in alignment with what she had been up to. She was looking for a partner to help her build her foundation. The first year across the ocean we organized concerts for Peace. We had 16 live concert events web-stream into our website. The next year we joined forces with Peace Day TV and had over 6 Million viewers of #PeaceDay events.Lynne We talked on Skype for years before finally this summer we got to meet in person. She was just the same as she was on Skype. We spent days together laughing, exploring and hanging out at the Deepak Chopra Centre. We promised each other we would go back. This summer she was supposed to come to Canada for a camping trip. She spent hours on the phone talking with my little girl, she always wanted to know what all of my kids were up to and with genuine compassion cared about all of the events in my life.
Six years of talking on Skype and co-creating events with an ocean between us has shown me that anything is possible! Peace is not only possible but exists, Lynne encouraged us to celebrate the Peace that we have in our lives every day. I am so glad that she is no longer going through the struggle of getting better... but I miss her! I miss her as my earth Angel and friend. I have a hole in my heart now that she has passed on.
Lynne was an Peace Pioneer, GoodWill Ambassador, Transformation Facilitator/Coach, Poet, Writer, Actress - Founder Planting Seeds & The Kind
To read her Bio check this out: Woman of Action
I Love the tribute that Lynne's friend Olma Edeki wrote for her:
"You came into our lives Lynney like a flowing river... You touched our hearts in ways we never imagined..
You freed many of us from a small world of individual pursuit, causing a movement of love, generosity and compassion; a community that came together in sun, rain, sweat, tears and joys to accompany you in your journey which today has become endless..
As my mind struggles to understand that this journey had a different turning; my heart knows that your time is endless and lies beyond the hands of time..
You've freed yourself from the complaints of the body.. You've crossed over to the other shore.. And I'll never forget the light you brought into each one of our hearts.
Thank you Lynney for standing for something bigger than yourself, for being extraordinary , magical and out if this world..
Thank you, all of you, for your support, love and stand for Lynney..
For every penny raised, event created and attended, for every breakthrough, for every fear faced and every conversation had.
Thank you for allowing Lynney to touch your heart.
Rest in Peace my beautiful friend.. Missing you so deeply."
I Love YOU LYNNE!

The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by resolution 36/67 of the United Nations General Assembly to coincide with its opening session, which was held annually on the third Tuesday of September. The first Peace Day was observed in September 1982. In 2001, the General Assembly by unanimous vote adopted resolution 55/282, which established 21 September as an annual day of non-violence and cease-fire. The UN invites all nations and people to honour a cessation of hostilities during the Day, and to otherwise commemorate the Day through education and public awareness on issues related to peace.

Inspiring Value
So... here is some Inspiration:
Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe. --Gail Devers
“Within each of us lies the power of our consent to health and sickness, to riches and poverty, to freedom and to slavery. It is we who control these and not another.” -- Richard Bach
All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware. --
Inspiration and Elevating conversations are taking place all over the planet, are YOU apart of them? Even though you may not be able to send money to people in need, You CAN make a difference by sharing Inspiration. Share your kindness and gratitude with others.
As some of you may know, I was at the Expert Academy last week in San Fransisco, Brendon Burchard shared something that is worth printing out and reading every day, that is this: "Power Plants generate their own power. We are just like the power plant because we have the ability to create our own power."
It is within us to Power UP, to step up our game and elevate ourselves by elevating others. Build people up to support them in reaching their true potential! Our world is abundant, there is enough for all of us, our internal power plant can let our light shine brightly inspiring others to let their light shine as well.
With Love,
Humbly,
Marcia

Are YOU Here?
Think about that for a moment.... considering that we ourselves are always changing, at every moment. We no longer have the same cells that we had when we were twenty. The body that we came to earth with has grown and taken many forms. So according to the statement above ..WE are not real.
Taking that thought to the next level, I want to make sure that you understand that YOU are not your circumstances. You are not your Job, your bank account, you are not the story that you tell yourself you are.
Who You are is an individualized expression of Greatness.... YOU have the ability to Design your life and the Impact that YOU make during your time on earth.
Every Choice you make, Every Action YOU take.... Everything that YOU do Matters... YOU Matter! You are not who you were last year, you are not who you were in your youth... YOU are who YOU are... Now, so Choose to be the very Best YOU, you can be. Let go of the limiting beliefs about who you thought you were and BE the Divine Spirit that you are.
"Abundance IS your Birthright! "
I love You.

Marcia

Flying at 16,000 Feet. (Thoughts & Tips)
Flying at 16,000 Feet. (Thoughts & Tips)
Have you ever wondered who else on the airplane needs the information about the altitude that we are flying at besides the pilot? As I fly to Vancouver this morning to host a Social Media strategy session with some investor friends, I can’t help but wonder what relevance how high we are flying has for any of the passengers. (Other than, how many feet high is a mile?)
I got a call last week from my Mentor in Mining asking me to pop in for a little brain storming session and as he put it… “ I AM Social Media,” so he needs me at the table. Over the last several years I have made it my mission to know the ins and outs of Social Media and Social Networking, I have created about 40 groups and pages, built an application that has had 1.5 million little inspirational quotes and pictures sent around the globe. With Facebook alone, I have been able to create a platform where I have easy access to about 150,000 amazing people. Not to mention the 50,000 people I can tweet with on the tenish Twitter accounts I built to support the Facebook pages. It sounds very time consuming and it was when I first started out, however auto feeds and a handful of dedicated “Sharers” have made it possible to become much more efficient with my time management, therefore creating a very simple and effective communication tool.
Syndication and Automation, have helped to make it possible to maintain this huge system without tying me to it babysitting it all of my waking hours. That is why I can “Pop” in to meet with friends when they call. January, I popped into Washington, earlier this month I was in Nashville and now I am on my way to Vancouver. Next Month, California followed by Florida after that with perhaps a stop in Denver in between. From the outside looking it, it seems a little overwhelming especially since my husband and I have 6 kids between us and an interprovincial electrical company to take care of. However, when I am not sitting in an airplane I work at home … this allows me to spend the maximum amount of time with my kids and ensures that I can make it to the majority of their events. (Calendar planning is a must in our house.) I do my best to keep business related calls to a complete minimum after 6 o’clock and for the most part not answer the phone or turn on my laptop during the weekends. Unless my kids are doing their own thing, then it is a little different.
So with all of the Sky miles that I put in, I have learnt some very valuable lessons that I would love to share with you.
Firstly, do like the Scouts do and “Be Prepared!” Put your ticket & Passport in the same pocket every time that you get it out! This makes checking in a much smoother process and helps not make enemies because you are holding everyone up.
Second, travel with luggage that has 360 degree rotating wheels. I know that it sounds like a minor thing, however it makes all of the difference in the world when you are trekking at top speed down the moving sidewalks trying to make your connection 3 terminals away … terminals not gates, huge difference. Wheels that just roll and do not pivot help your bag tip over in your hand when you make quick turns. If your suitcase or carryon can stand upright unassisted, that comes in handy too especially in the washroom.
Third, A drink in the sky is worth two on the ground. That has nothing to do with price, it means that the altitude (maybe that is why the Pilot wants us to know how high he can fly,) affects the way that your body handles the alcohol. I am saying this as a public service announcement because I have been on many flights that people have found themselves double fisted drinking like it was their first time. It is only funny for the couple moments when the drinker stands up and realize how they perhaps only needed the one drink; unfortunately they are not double the “funny” when it comes to their comedic styling’s.
Fourth tip of the day, check out smaller airlines! A lot of them don’t register on big searches so it is a great idea to check directly on the smaller airlines websites for flight prices. For example I am currently flying on a Pacific Costal aircraft. The service is outstanding; the staff is happy and helpful not to mention I saved $400.00 on today’s flight verses Air Canada’s cost. No kidding!
Well I think that is enough unsolicited advice for one flight, so until next time. Fly Safe, and remember that flight security have a warped sense of humour so don’t be joking around with them when you walk through the full body scanner, because they can still do a pat down as well as dole out an internal thumbs up… if you know what I mean.
Humbly,
Marcia

Changing Education Paradigms
Divergent Thinking.... (The Ability to see multiple ways to solve a problem.) this is an outstanding idea that really speaks to possibility and the solutions that are needed to step out of the old Paradigm in Education! The Sooner the Better (See video link below)
Not to long ago, I was the chair of my Children's School Council as well as the chair of District School Council and on the board of the Provincial Home & School Council. For many years I was consumed in these positions and completely dedicated to supporting the Principals & Teachers in my province.
The provincial perspective offered me the ability to observe and appreciate how well our local schools were run verses some others in the province. However, as I was thinking about running for Trustee, I began to wake up to the idea that perhaps there were many better ways of creating solutions for our nations youth rather than sticking to the old ways of thinking simply because it worked for our parents and our parents parents. My views expanded to include and understand that we need to stop treating our kids like they all have the same needs at the same time. Our Students are on an assembly line to become "Employees" rather than functioning People and creative, contributing members of society. Instead of creating cookie cutter molds of what each teacher thinks that the government tests require our children to learn. We live in a system where we are more concerned about the Provincial Exam results are because those numbers will effect funding.
Don't get me wrong.... I LOVE Teachers who Love what they do! Who serve with Passion, Dedication and Inspire Creativity. The Teachers who are leading by example and who are LIFE long Learners themselves. However, I think where the big big road block is... is those Teachers who are in it for simply the pay check. Working to live instead of Living to Work.
After multiple years of service, I stepped down from all of those positions because, I started to think that Perhaps .... there is a better way...
Please talk a moment to watch this video:
Changing Education Paradigms Video
"This animate was adapted from a talk given at the RSA by Sir Ken Robinson, world-renowned education and creativity expert and recipient of the RSA's Benjamin Franklin award."
Do schools kill creativity? I think that young people are going through a creativity holocaust perpetrated by teachers especially ones who hate their jobs.
For more information on Sir Ken's work visit: http://www.sirkenrobinson.com/
I found that my voice is much more powerful as a Parent ... rather than a Chair. Instead of banging my head against a broken system that is stuck in the same cycle of conveyor belt students, I have found my actions much more effective by spending more time with my kids rather than being stuck in so many meetings talking about the same issues (some times for years).
The reason that I really wanted to share these two videos with you today is to inspire YOU to use your voice. Parents need to start speaking up and expressing their Cheers & Concerns about their children's education. Parents need to SUPPORT Great Teachers who LOVE what they do. Parents need to back Schools in creating Solutions, Parents need to share their ideas and then be willing to do the work necessary to get all of our kids out of the cookie cutter system.
Even more so... School Districts need to be HONEST in their news releases about class sizes, (and stop averaging all classes including non-core classes in those numbers. Example: averaging Shop classes with 15 students in with the 33 student class rooms of English class . ) We must be TRANSPARENT in painting the real picture of what is happening in Classrooms so that the voting population (Seniors with no students) feel that changes are necessary. Unless this changes, Councils across the nation will continue in the same cycle of not being as effective as they truly want to be.
Together, we CAN make a real difference in our Children's Futures... but the work starts now.
Humbly,
Marcia

I BElieve in YOU!

"No matter what the problem is, our experiences are just outer effects of inner thoughts." Louise L Hay, "Your thoughts and beliefs of the past have created this moment, and all the moments up to this moment. What you are now choosing to believe and think and say will create the next moment and the next day and the next month and the next year."
I know that everything can be ok... but You need to take action and first choose to BE that which you are seeking. No one can make that choice but you, and that can be hell on those of us on the outside. I will keep believing in YOU, that you will overcome; my faith in YOU will act as a lighthouse that will help YOU to find your own path… BE strong and bright my friend and do not fall into the trap of becoming a search light, because you will drive yourself crazy. Become the LIGHTHOUSE of your own design!
When caterpillars create their cocoon, it is a process that they have to go through. When it is time for them to immerge, if an onlooker interferes in any way, the butterfly will not develop the strength needed to fly. So other than letting you know that I am here to support you, I cannot interfere regardless of how painful it is to witness. Unless you ask for help, others around you need to stay firmly planted in the belief that YOU need to make the choice to save yourself and climb out of the cocoon that you are a part of. Until you do make that choice on your own, you will keep crawling back in.
I believe in YOU my friend!
In Love & Leaning.
Humbly,
Marcia
