Realizing OUR Mentors Are Human…

My personal mentors and I are separated by the pedestal that I place them on. I clearly remember the day when I realized that my father was ‘Human.’ It was the day that he told me that my mother and he were getting a divorce. I was 13 the day that I held my father in my arms while he told me through his tears that his marriage was over. Even as a child, I was the one that he could lean on. It was such a shock to me, not that they were concluding their time together; but that I was no longer the acorn and my father the mighty oak tree that I had made him out to be in my mind. Although he was ahead of me on life experience… he was the same as me…he was a Divine Being having a Human experience.

I have had the opportunity to have met many of my mentors. Looking up to people who have either accomplished what I would like to, or who have pioneered the way to make my life’s purpose much easier have allowed me to realize that I CAN achieve anything that I set my mind to. Even though these people have accomplished great things, they are still Humans who sometimes make mistakes..and at times..don’t even believe in themselves.

Several years ago, I had built a friendship with a Transformational life coach who I greatly admired. I spent many hours on the phone with her … sharing, learning and growing. I even traveled all the way across the country to stay at her home and attend some of her courses. She was fantastic…until, I got in business with her. I quickly realized that she was not who she said she was..nor did she practice what she preached. “When it was all said and done, there was a lot more said than done”… and I was disappointed to learn that she did not live up to her own definition of Integrity…. “ALWAYS doing what YOU say YOU are going to do…when YOU say YOU are going to do it!”

Even though this was a pricey relationship, it allowed me the opportunity to look within to examine what/who I was Being during our friendship. In my mind, I had elevated her to a higher standard than I had had for myself..because I placed her on a pedestal. Reality in it all was…she was HUMAN…and made mistakes. My learning came when I realized that I had changed my own standards..because I had made her better than me, in my own mind. So I blindly let her do things that I would not have normally allowed.

Another woman that I have looked up to because of her amazing ability to market herself and her talents was Silvia Brown. WOW, she is extremely talented in putting out new products at an unbelievable rate. Even if you are not ‘into’ her type of product, you have to applaud her ability to produce. I met Silvia and spoke with her … and came away disappointed. (It could have been an off day for her but..) I was disappointed…because once again, I had made her out to be MORE than ME. That day, she was a very negative, unhappy and overworked woman. She looked so very tired…and it had me question..was all her overworking, really worth it?

A couple of years ago, while attending the Casey Summit (the pinnacle of all Investing shows) I had the pleasure of having drinks with Doug Casey (Guru of Investing) and a handful of his friends. Walking to the table, I had such butterflies in my stomach but after shaking his hand and sitting down I felt equal. Even being the only woman at the table of an “Old Boys Club,” I belonged. These men reflected about the day’s events and laughed and joked about the business of networking in the Stock Market world. I shocked myself at the level of conversation I held when Simon Black (Doug’s Beyond Borders Analyst) introduced me to the table beside us. The Boston Red Socks team…. No kidding! We were all staying in the same hotel because it was the world series. Luckily I was prepared with pocketful of business cards..because Simon passed my card out to the entire team. (I worked for a Gold & Silver Exploration company at the time.)

In January I had dinner with Bob Proctor (Law of Attraction Guru) and the entire cast of the Beyond the Secret movie. Since seeing the movie the Secret, I have been in awe of Bob. He is a fountain of inspiration and a wonderful source of wisdom…but he is Human! I overheard him ask the director about creating the movie into a business and how they would do that… I laughed inside when the director said, “Bob, we will Attract it to us!”

I have met so many un-believable humans who are accomplishing outstanding things… things at are beyond all reason…. but they are doing it…creation Solutions..and living in Possibility!

Even though some of my mentors have changed over time, I have learned from them more than I can express in just one blog. What Do I Do?

So, the things that are do are many... but since you asked I thought I would send you a note to let you know some of what I do. A part of me is shocked at all that I have been able to accomplish..so far. I write about my life experiences and interactions in order to share my authentic self with YOU.

I am married and am a mother to 6 children. Two are my bonus children that my husband had before I met him... and my oldest two boys are mine from my first marriage...then we had two..

I am a business woman who is building http://www.stockharmony.com/ ... I have extensive business experience including owning an Electrical company and working in the investing/ stock market world...Among other things. Stock Harmony is my way of highlighting companies that make a difference in the world...by doing business with integrity, transparency and honesty. In order to support this, I host a radio show called Stock Talk Radio...

Another part of what I do, is promote Peace...and Inspiration. To do this I host another radio show called Inspired by YOU on Planting Seeds for Peace Radio. I am working in conjunction with Lynne Hazelden to create a worldwide celebration in support of Peace One Day, Peace Jam, Jerusalem Peace Preschool, Kids for Peace [and many more]...to elevate their amazing work to highlight Peace. What Would You Do?

This weekend, my family and in-laws went camping across the border on the outskirts of a small U.S. city. We had a great time playing in the water, bike riding and hanging out around the fire. It was fun to just relax and enjoy the sound of laughter from the kids playing. While we were there, my sister in-law (Jenn) and my two oldest boys (Colten [15] & Keyten [12] decided to go shopping for some new school cloths.

When we pulled into a parking spot, we heard a woman yelling. The boys and Jenn got out of the truck and we shocked to see the woman throw her purse and start hitting the young teenager in front of her. I was still in the truck as Jenn yelled at me to come watch this… I got out in time to see her smash the boy again and pull him down the sidewalk by his hair.

I yelled across the parking lot for here to stop it. I said that I would call the police because that was child abuse. She yelled back, that the police told her to put her hands on him and that he needs to stop swearing at her, and that the police could not find him when he ran away. That I should tell the police that it was her that found him. She pulled the boy by his hair all the way to her vehicle, shoved him in and drove off.

We all stood in shock and horror at the scene that we just witnessed. If this is how this lady treated her son in public…what was going on behind closed doors? As my family came together to talk about what we had just witnessed we approached the boys friends that were sitting on the bench outside the mall doors. One of the kids had a cell phone in his hands so I asked if he was calling the police. I said that we were all witnesses to child abuse and we would speak up for the boy. The kids had obviously had seen this type of behavior by this woman before because they did not seem to be phased by it at all. They were his friends but appeared to be numb to it all.

My sister & my boys walked into the mall and spoke about how sickened we felt about the entire event. Jenn said no wonder the boy ran away, if that is how he is going to be treated at home, she would not want to be their either. It was obvious to us that the parenting at home was not working, and the boy was indeed a product of his environment. What was happening at home was not working, so he was seeking change… the change he found was running away. Perhaps not the best option, but doing the same thing over and over again as a parent…and expecting different results…was not working for the mother either. With this parenting role model in this 14 year olds daily life, what are his options?

Right inside the mall, with tears streaming down my cheeks, I held my son’s and told them how much loved them . Without caring who was watching they both hugged me back…and told me they knew that I did.

Paying It Forward

When I started the Daily OM Facebook group over a year ago, I did it as my way of Paying it Forward for the Dailyom.com I wanted to help get the word out about the amazing notes that were a gift, so I set out to find out more. The Daily OM is written by a group of very gifted writers every weekday. (If you have not been to the site yet, you can also sign up for the Daily Hoiscopes.) Instead of just posting the Daily OM on my websites, where it would only 5% of the site, I created this group so that it could be 95% and 5% my stuff. Through this group and our Page, I have helped turn thousands of people onto the Daily OM. http://www.dailyom.com/

So, every single week day, my ritual, is to “Pay it Forward,” and send the Daily OM note on to you. This is my gift to YOU, even if I am traveling, I somehow always find a way to send it out…even if I have to be up at 2am in get it out. WE even have a FB fan page for people to interact in a discussion about the Daily OM topics.

I have been asked a lot lately how I manage to do everything that I do..in my effort to make the world a better place. In addition to being the Mother of my ‘Brady Bunch’, I am the President of Stock Harmony http://www.stockharmony.com/ , I have over 20 FB groups and pages, I created the “Power Thoughts”, Daily Affirmation FB application that have had over 350,000 apps sent out, I have 2 radio shows, (Stock Talk Radio & Inspired By YOU on Planting Seeds for Peace Radio) I have also started creating mini movies [on our group wall] , helped with the sale of “Beyond the Secret DVD,” as well as maintaining my blogs http://www.eaupening.blogspotcom/ & http://www.stockharmony.blogspot.com/ , supporting my husband with our electrical company… & creating PEACE day events around the world…for Peace Day. Through this venue of social networking I have made it my policy to elevate others… and through that, the work itself has elevated me…for that I am most humbled by the honor of being of service and providing thought provoking information infused with true value.

That way if people would like to learn more about me… and ALL that I am up to, they can. My life is an open book, full of amazing learning opportunities on my part. You can raise your quality of thinking… by learning, reading and seeking the wisdom of people who are where you would like to be in your life.
