Eagle School

I had the pleasure of watching a short little video called, “You Can’t Send a Duck to Eagle School.” Basically the concept is that some people are not the right fit for the task that you need accomplished. Well that was the lesson of the day for me. This concept really hit home when my sixteen year old said to my husband, “Can you pick up some Milk when you are at work tomorrow?” (He and I own an electrical company that operates at five of the local coal mines where we live.)

Without missing a beat, my husband said, “There are no cows at the mine and the last time I checked you don’t get milk from coal.” He took things over the top by adding, “I could ask Doreen from purchasing to write me a P.O. so we can order some in.”

After I almost hurt myself because I was laughing soo hard, the concept really began to sink in. How many times in life have I gone to someone to get answers and they were not the person that was the right fit for the question? How often had I been looking for the help in the wrong place or advice from someone who had no business giving it? Or how often had I tried to get someone to be who they are not? Or do something that they did not want to do?

I am sure the answers to those questions would be staggering … so it is just best to learn from the experience (s). There are many times when I have found myself asking a loved one how to do something or discussion a problem with a friend when really it would have saved time and stress to go to the person with experience or find a qualified person to answer my question. Life is so much simpler when we have the right person for the job, no matter what the job or question is. I guess that is why the saying, “You can’t put a square peg into a round hole,” is so popular… when I have a task that requires a round peg… I just need to get a round peg and stop playing around with the square one.

Finding the Right solution to an issue requires the correct tools for the job, or the right people to create the solution. Hanging around with people that are not equipped to create the solutions is simply a waste of time. So from now on, I will be looking for Eagles instead of herding ducks. Water flows into, around and through. It is the makeup of 70% of our own bodies and our planet. Water is patient, soft and powerful. It can be clear, cleansing and refreshing. Water is source.

Pening= an invitation to the world to become authors /contributors of all things Positive.

When we place our focus on Positive information, ideas or events, we create an EAUPENING in our own consciousness to create more of the same. The EAUPENING is a free MOVEMENT to invoke acts of kindness throughout the WORLD and to create PEACE on EARTH.

The EAUPENING provides a place for everyone, any age, race, religion or background to fill their cup with all things positive. It is a place where content is monitored by the users. People can drink from this virtual Mecca of positive conversations and information then come away feeling refreshed and better for the experience. The intent is to grow a place where our world view can grow and expand from a sharing of information with a positive message. Inspiring others to go out into the world and do the same. Pay it forward and then come back and share.

When we place our focus on Positive information, ideas or events, we create an EAUPENING in our own consciousness to create more of the same.

Reflection, Gratitude & WE

Isn’t it funny how we find the things that annoy us in others, is usually the thing that bothers us about ourselves. I mean when we really get honest with ourselves about it. You know that saying ‘when you point a finger at someone else you have three pointing back at you?’ Well if that is the case then why does it feel easier to just place the blame back on the other person?

From my experience, it is… the first time. But what happens is the next time, is the universe patiently collects all of the leaning and dumps it back on us, until we finally accept the teaching and learn what it is that the lesson is trying to teach. Playing this proverbial game of “Tackle Tag,” can sometimes be a painful experience because of the collateral damage that WE create while trying to understand the lesson.

Every week I have the opportunity to attend ‘Vehicle University.’ I decided to start calling it that so I could look at the same drive as an opportunity to learn and grow rather than the same old trip on the same boring road. This week while in university, I had the pleasure of listening to, “’Complaint Free Relationships: How to Positively Transform Your Personal, Work, and Love Relationships” by Will Bowen

“For those who think complaining feels good and gets them results, the documented research proves it doesn’t help at all. It’s a form of self-deception to think complaining changes anyone. It not only hurts others, it also hurts the complainer. It simply doesn’t work. “

I found it rather interesting to hear about Relationships from his prospective . By being Whole, Healthy and Complete ourselves, we can take 100% personal responsibility for the relationship outcome … instead of things being 50 / 50 it is each others accountability to take 100% personal responsibility to the success or failure of the relationship. That is without blame, judgment or accusations.

“Remember, if you are criticizing, you are not being grateful. If you are blaming, you are not being grateful. If you are complaining, you are not being grateful. If you are feeling tension, you are not being grateful. If you are rushing, you are not being grateful. If you are in a bad mood, you are not being grateful.

Gratitude can transform your life. Are you allowing minor things to get in the way of your transformation and the life you deserve? “ Rhonda Byrne

From my own experience, every time I resent, or complain about the way another person is BEing, it is like taking out the trash, but first attaching a bungee cord to it… so before I can even turn around, I find myself covered by a huge bag of hurling garbage that ricocheted back at me. And most of times, it is with the very same words that I tossed out to begin with.

So, how do we solve the issue of reflection? Well it can surely be solved with the very thing that secures the foundation of every relationship and business transaction. That is, INTEGRITY.

Integrity can be simply defined by, ‘Doing what YOU say that YOU are going to do, when YOU say YOU are going to do it!’ So, if YOU say that YOU are going to do something… do it, follow through and do it by when YOU said that YOU would DO it.

It seems too simple, however, that is it. BE who you say that you are, DO what you say that you are going to do. If you say that you are a person that can be counted on, then BE reliable. If you say that you are trustworthy, then BE honest. If you say that you are a kind person, then BE a kind person. If you make a commitment… keep it.

I know what you are thinking… that is, Marcia… but what if something comes up? What if I can’t keep the commitment? Well that is simple as well, if you are not able to do what you said that you would, come clean; first with yourself, then with the other party.

In the past, I have done a great job of making it appear like the reason I could not keep a commitment is because of another person. Perhaps the way that they were BEing was a great scapegoat as to why I did not want to carry on in our interaction. They were too pushy, to controlling, to arrogant or whatever. So I would make the reason their fault… so that I would not have to take responsibility for my part in it. I would just blame them… or someone else… just as long as I was not responsible. (That sounds horrible as I read it back… but, it was true.)

Ever since I have been able to take 100% responsibility for my BEing, my life has gone soooooooooo much smoother. You know the saying, “It’s not YOU it is me…?” Well, it really is me. I am the one who decides what I do, when I do it and to what extent I do things. Before I did things for people mostly out of guilt….now I do things because I want to! When I decide to not do something, I don’t judge myself or feel bad… So, if I say that I am going to do something now, I do it! If something comes up, I come clean and let the other party know… rather than projecting my junk on them. I own my part and WE both carry on.

In all that I do, I remember that everything that I do or don’t do, has a ripple effect… a result and an outcome… so with that knowing, I do my best to make my decisions from an educated perspective.. allowing me to act..rather than re-act!

Worlds Biggest Truck to be REPLACED!

After several years of debate Sparwood Town Council voted unanimously that instead of using some of the towns surplus monies on installation of a new town water park, they would be replacing the Titian instead so that Sparwood could truly have the World's Biggest Truck.

It has been many years since our beloved Titian Truck has welcomed visitors from around the globe to our wonderful community of Sparwood BC, however, due to stacks of letters and countless emails, the town council voted this morning that it was time for a change. Even though the Titian is the world’s largest double axel truck, they have decided to replace it with the true contender. The T 282 B from Liebherr will the mamoth to replace the Titian. It has a 2723-kilowatt diesel engine which powers two electric motors, making the T 282 B the biggest AC drive truck in the world.

“Every time I drive past the sign ‘World’s Largest’ truck I get mad because I know that it is not. I see bigger one’s at work every day.” Brad Johnson, owner of Apex Power & Automation.

Bobby Hutchinson, Amazing Author & owner of the Blue Collar B&B said, “It is about time, I am tired of explaining to guests that it is the world’s largest 'double axel truck'.”

Removal of the Titian is expected to take place once they find a tow truck big enough to remove it. The chamber is currently hosting a silent auction if you are interest in purchasing the Titian for a lawn ornament. A little Follow up on above...

Public Service Announcement!

The Titian is not being moved.... sold... or replaced.

The email that came out earlier today was ... you guessed it, an April Fools Joke!

We only had 1 person complain about this little tease. 1 person from the Chamber ...because she was concerned about an overload of phone calls. I gave her my number and told her to pass any concerns on to myself and I would apologize for any inconvenience that I had caused.

I forwarded her concerns to the Mayor and double checked with him to make sure that they never had any calls either .... turns out Everyone in the Elk Valley Group, does read to the end... well done my friends!

I LOVE the Valley and now even more... because of the wonderful sense of humor everyone here has.... the Olympic comity has nothing on us..
