Wally the Cab Driver

No one can make you serve customers well.....that's because great service is a choice.

Harvey Mackay, tells a wonderful story about a cab driver who
proved this point.

He was waiting in line for a ride at the airport. When a cab
pulled up, the first thing Harvey noticed was that the taxi was polished
to a bright shine. Smartly dressed in a white shirt, black tie, and
freshly pressed black slacks, the cab driver jumped out and rounded the
car to open the back passenger door for Harvey ..

He handed my friend a laminated card and said: 'I'm Wally, your
driver. While I'm loading your bags in the trunk I'd like you to read my
mission statement.'

Taken aback, Harvey read the card.. It said: Wally's Mission
Statement: To get my customers to their destination in the quickest,
safest and cheapest way possible in a friendly environment...

This blew Harvey away. Especially when he noticed that the
inside of the cab matched the outside. Spotlessly clean!

As he slid behind the wheel, Wally said, 'Would you like a cup
of coffee? I have a thermos of regular and one of decaf.' My friend said
jokingly, 'No, I'd prefer a soft drink.' Wally smiled and said, 'No
problem I have a cooler up front with regular and Diet Coke, water and
orange juice..' Almost stuttering, Harvey said, 'I'll take a Diet Coke.'

Handing him his drink, Wally said, 'If you'd like something to
read, I have The Wall Street Journal, Time, Sports Illustrated and USA
Today.'

As they were pulling away, Wally handed my friend another
laminated card, 'These are the stations I get and the music they play,
if you'd like to listen to the radio.'

And as if that weren't enough, Wally told Harvey that he had the
air conditioning on and asked if the temperature was comfortable for
him. Then he advised Harvey of the best route to his destination for
that time of day. He also let him know that he'd be happy to chat and
tell him about some of the sights or, if Harvey preferred, to leave him
with his own thoughts.

'Tell me, Wally,' my amazed friend asked the driver, 'have you
always served customers like this?'

Wally smiled into the rear view mirror. 'No, not always.. In
fact, it's only been in the last two years. My first five years driving,
I spent most of my time complaining like all the rest of the cabbies do.
Then I heard the personal growth guru, Wayne Dyer, on the radio one day.

He had just written a book called You'll See It When You Believe
It. Dyer said that if you get up in the morning expecting to have a bad
day, you'll rarely disappoint yourself. He said, 'Stop complaining!
Differentiate yourself from your competition. Don't be a duck. Be an
eagle. Ducks quack and complain. Eagles soar above the crowd..'

'That hit me right between the eyes,' said Wally. 'Dyer was
really talking about me. I was always quacking and complaining, so I
decided to change my attitude and become an eagle. I looked around at
the other cabs and their drivers. The cabs were dirty, the drivers were
unfriendly, and the customers were unhappy. So I decided to make some
changes. I put in a few at a time. When my customers responded well, I
did more.'

'I take it that has paid off for you,' Harvey said.

'It sure has,' Wally replied. 'My first year as an eagle, I
doubled my income from the previous year. This year I'll probably
quadruple it. You were lucky to get me today. I don't sit at cabstands
anymore. My customers call me for appointments on my cell phone or leave
a message on my answering machine. If I can't pick them up myself, I get
a reliable cabbie friend to do it and I take a piece of the action.'

Wally was phenomenal. He was running a limo service out of a
Yellow Cab. I've probably told that story to more than fifty cab drivers
over the years, and only two took the idea and ran with it. Whenever I
go to their cities, I give them a call. The rest of the drivers quacked
like ducks and told me all the reasons they couldn't do any of what I
was suggesting..

Wally the Cab Driver made a different choice. He decided to stop
quacking like ducks and start soaring like eagles.

How about us? Smile, and the whole world smiles with you... The
ball is in our hands!
We reap what we sow. Let us not become weary in doing good, for
at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up... let us
do good to all people.

Ducks Quack, Eagles Soar.

Have a nice day, unless you already have other plans.
SORROW looks back, WORRY looks around, and FAITH looks UP...

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about
learning to dance in the rain."

Peace day 2010 was such an amazing success, with events all around the globe people from around the globe came together to celebrate the Peace that is created everyday. Sharing Peace Through Technology

This year on Peace Day (September 21st) People all over the world will be able to STAND for Peace like never before. Thanks to the new technology of Microsoft Tags people with 3G cell phones will be able to receive their Free Peace Certificate by using this cool new application.

Once the app is installed people will be able to take a picture of any of the Tags on this page to be directed to the Peace In OUR Lifetime website where they can enter their name and country and receive their very own Peace Certificate. Once redirected to the site.. click on "Add Your Voice."
From there the Peace Certificate can be used anywhere: including as a profile picture, print it on a t-shirt, share it on websites, print it on a mug, make a poster of it and share it anywhere.

Having a Peace Certificate shows that YOU have made a conscious choice to Stand in PEACE & Gratitude for the Peace that is created every day.

Once the Certificate has been given, people will then have the option of "Taking Action" for Peace. All of the outstanding Peace Partners that are STANDING with Peace In OUR Lifetime will be featured on the website where people can do anything from Sign a Peace Treaty, Watch
Videos, Attend Live Events, Join in the Peace Prayer and much much more.

Every year on Peace Day the world lay down their weapons to celebrate together. Lives are saved, food & medication is delivered to places that normally can not be accessed.

Peace In OUR Lifetime brings together organizations to stand as One Voice for Peace ... freely and uniquely in their own way. We are inviting people to create a Peace Gratitude video to show appreciation for the difference that people are making everyday. Please check out Gratitude Video 's for more information.
Wishing YOU a Wonderful Peace Day... let's work together to create Peace every day..

Humbly,
Marcia & Lynne

Slow Down & Enjoy the Scenery

This waterfall is only here during the early summer.... it can be seen from highway 3 on the south side of the road... 5 minutes from the BC Boarder. If you look close at the second picture, you can see the highway, under the mountain. I took the second picture while standing under the waterfall.

I wanted to take a moment to share these pictures with you as a reminder that all too often in life, we speed down a familiar road and we are too consumed with our thoughts to take a look at the natural beauty that is continually changing!

It may be a waterfall or wildlife.... enjoy it while it is right in front of you....

Sending YOU blessings of Peace & Prosperity.
Humbly,
Marcia

INspired Peace

I get inspired by so many things so of course when I saw the following quote, it started me thinking…

"If your life's work can be accomplished in your lifetime, you're not thinking big enough." ~Wes Jackson

Along with all of the other fun that I do in my life, I AM the co-creator ofPeace In OUR Lifetime. (http://www.peaceinourlifetime.org ) Even though the title of the organization says “OUR Lifetime,” it is up to the next generation to keep it going.

From the perspective of what we see in the Media, what we may hear around the water cooler and what we may believe happens around the world every day, it is easy to take hold of the opinion that Peace is something that is not attainable. With so much blood being shed every day, how can we ever have Peace on Earth, it is just impossible.

What if, I told you that it is possible…and not only is it a possibility but we already have it! Hold on, before you simply hit the delete button and dismiss this message as ramblings of a mad woman, please allow me the opportunity to help you shift your perspective. Ready ? Here we go.

If today 6.7 billion people did not kill anyone why did YOU not hear about it? If those 6.7 billion people chose to not focus on .1 that perhaps did, would that not mean that the over whelming majority of the people on this earth are choosing to live in Peace? Today there is an estimated 6,858,500,342 people alive on the planet. Isn’t it about time that we start focusing on the Peace that is created every day, rather than the inhuman acts of violence of the few?

We need to understand that the majority of people ARE living in peace, and even though there are still horrible things that do happen, there is much more Peace than not peace. It is really what WE choose to focus on that forms our perspective. Once we realize that there really is peace on earth, then we can start working on the solutions for transforming the non-peace into peace. Every single day, peaceful actions are created; kind things are being done for others, even right in the middle of war zones.

Today, I was honored to host a radio interview with the founder of the Circle of Peace, Jean Trudle. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/plantingseedsforpeace/2010/07/26/circle-of-peace Jean has beenable to accomplish some amazing results … he is one man making a real difference, because he is empowered by the outstanding actions of those around him! Take a look at what he is creating http://www.circleofpeace.ca

The lovely Lynne Hazelden joined us and we spoke about how amazing it will be this year on Peace Day (September 21st) when we stand united with Peace organizations’ around the globe to give “Thanks & Gratitude” for the peace that is created every day… and usually goes unacknowledged .

“Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Give a woman microcredit and she, her husband, her children and her extended family will eat for a lifetime.” –Bono

What are YOU doing to make a difference?

I started all of the facebook groups and pages that I have in order to provide Inspiration for the members, it is my sincerest wish that listening to this radio show will provide You with the INSPIRATION to stand with us, in giving thanks for the Peace there is… because once you start to look for it, I promise you will find it all around you… even in the smallest of places.

Ever so humbly,

Marcia
